வன்னியின் தென்னோலை வீடுகளில் அழையா விருந்தாளிகள் இந்தச் சிட்டுக் குருவிகள். யாரும் அவர்களுக்கு நல்வரவு சொல்லத் தேவையில்லை. தாமாகவே வந்து உரிமையோடு வீட்டின் முகடுகளில் தம் சிறு கூடுகளைக் சிறு சிறு புற்களாலும் உட்புறம் மென்மையான பட்டுப் போன்ற வெள்ளைச் செட்டைகளை வைத்து மென்மைப் படுத்தியும் கட்டிக் கொள்ளும். தவிட்டின் நிறம் கொண்ட இக் குருவிகளில் ஆண்குருவி சற்றே கடுமையான நிறத்திலும் பெண்குருவி மென்மையான வண்ணத்திலும் காணப் படும்.
தானியங்களைப் பொறுக்கித் தின்னும் இவை மனித குணங்களுக்கு நன்கு இசைவாக்கப் பட்டவை. அவைகளது உலகம் தனியானது.மனிதர்களை அவை கவனிப்பதில்லை. அவர்களுக்கு அவை கரைச்சல் கொடுப்பதும் இல்லை.கீச்சு கீச்சு என்று தம் சிறிய அலகால் கீச்சிடும். ஆனால் அது யாருக்கும் தொந்தரவாய் இருப்பதில்லை.
வன்னிப் பிரதேசங்கள் நெல் போன்ற தானிய வகைகளுக்கு பெயர் பெற்றதால் இவைகளின் பெருக்கம் அங்கு அதிகமாக இருக்கும்.வன்னி மக்களும் அவற்றைத் தொந்தரவு செய்வதில்லை.அழகானதொரு நட்புறவு அங்கத்தைய விவசாயிகளுக்கும் பறவைகள், விலங்குகளுக்கும் இடையே இருப்பது வன்னி மண்ணின் சிறப்புகளில் ஒன்று.
சில வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால் எங்கோ ஒரு கட்டுரை படித்தேன். இந்தச் சிட்டுக் குருவிகள் எல்லாம் இப்போது முழுவதுமாக இல்லாது போய் விட்டனவாம்.

சிட்டு குருவி எண்டது வந்து எங்கட ஊர்ல சொல்லுற புலுனி குருவி தானே இல்லையா...ம்ம்...எனக்கும் புலுனி குருவி எண்டா நல்ல விருப்பம்....

இன்றைக்கு கிடைத்த கவிதைத் தொகுப்பின் பெயரில் புலுனிக் குஞ்சுகள் என்று இருந்தது. அப்படியென்றால் என்ன பறவையென்று தெரியாமல் இருந்தேன்.. தாருகாசினிக்கு நன்றி.

iam from karaikal(pondicherry state)have been reading ur articles for several months,but this is the first article that make me to post a comment
i have grown small village near nagapattinam with lots of sparrows above my head i love to watch and hear them they are the most beautiful birds among their species
never scared to live among us
but sadly now and for past six years i haven't seen a single sparrow in and around everywhere
sadly while i discusing this topic with my mother she told me visit vedharanyam where u can found lots of sparrow,specially i made a trip to that particular place and i amazed to watch sparrows everwhere stayed there for three long days only for watching them,thinking about sparrows i watched my cellphone i didn't find coverage and i smiled myself,still thinking abt how we are going to save those species,wonder after ten years our kids will found coverage on their cell phone and no sparrows to watch,there are no words to express my feelings we are the cause for the destruction of our own planet and every beautiful things among it,thank you

புலுனிக் குருவிகள் வேறு சிட்டுக் குருவிகள் வேறு தோழியரே.புலுனிக்குஞ்சுகள் 7 பேர் கொண்ட கூட்டம். அவர்கள் எப்போதும் ஒன்றாகவே திரிவார்கள்.7 sisters என்றும் அவர்களைச் சொல்வார்கள். அவை வீடுகளில் வசிப்பதில்லை.தானியங்களைக் கொத்தித் தின்ன மட்டும் வீட்டு முற்றங்களுக்கு கூட்டமாக வருவார்கள். பின் கூட்டமாகப் போவார்கள்.குண்டுக் குருவிகள்.அவை ஆணும் பெண்னும் ஒரே வண்ணம்.நிறத்தில் தவிட்டின் நிறம்.
ஆனால் சிட்டுக் குருவிகள் அவ்வாறல்ல. உங்கல் எல்லோரது வரவுக்கும் பின்னூட்டங்களுக்கும் நன்றிகள்.
